We have a Slab!

Well the week we have been waiting for for so long finally arrived - our slab was poured!!!

    Here are a few pics...

This is the gap from the Alfresco to the pool - about 3 metres.

Its so big I couldn't get it all in 1 picture.  This is the garage side

The view from the back of the block.  Those are the Blue Mountains in the distance - we are hoping that a single storey is built across the road so we will have a good view from our balcony (fingers crossed).

The slab was poured last Saturday (12/10) and since then the external drainage has been completed (in the rain would you believe) and the frames have been delivered all ready for the carpenters to start on Monday.  It is crazy how fast it is moving now.

Even more crazy is the communication from Wisdom - our SS calls every week with an update and lets us know the plan for the next week. If only we had this service from the beginning.  We did laugh though when we received the request for the slab payment the day after it was poured. They have never been so quick with the paperwork before - they must want some money lol.

We are officially loving the construction phase and are slowly beginning to forget about the painful Admin process...

  3. I totally agree with you, they took over 10 months on the admin process. If we go with other builders (Clarendon or EBH), the houses on the block of lands have already completed the brick and the roof.

Did they advise what the timeframe is for the house completely built? Can it be done by Easter? and hopefully, the house exterior is completed by their Christmas and New Year break (for 3 weeks?).

  4. its true our neighbours are building with Allcastle, Unicus and Metricon and will be complete and moved in before Christmas....even though our blocks were all registered at the same time. It is just lucky that we had fallen in love with our house design or we would have jumped ship.

I did ask our SS last week if he thought we would be at Lock up by Christmas. He said its possible but don't hold him to it lol. I am thinking we will be in by Easter which is the first weekend in April next year - fingers crossed.

Where are you up to in the build process???

  5. I believe we are about a week behind you, we have slab poured on 18/10 and frame started last Friday.

We are building in Willowdale, about 15 mins south from you. Have you engaged anyone yet to do tasks after the handover? e.g. landscaping, wardrobes shelves, blinds, driveway, laundry and etc? If you have any recommendation or seen good works from your neighbour, would you please share with us? I've started to request quote through online but would prefer to get help via word of mouth.

  6. Hi Redfernpoint, Sorry it has taken so long to reply to you. With being totally frustrated with the building process, Christmas and working so much overtime to pay for the 2 mortgages - time has gotten away from me.

How is your build going? I hope you are having a smoother time of it than us.

We used the $5000 Wisdom Landscape voucher to pay for the driveway but as for everything else I haven't got to yet. We need to sell our existing house to pay for the 'extras' so it may be a while before we are completely finished. I must admit I find all the extra's a bit daunting - the list gets longer and longer all the time
