We have plans

After many weeks of waiting we finally received our draft plans this week.  So exciting..

We are ecstatic but there is a few changes to be made.  We will know every nook and cranny of the house before the building even starts.

We have taken a huge leap of faith as there is no display home for this design so we have had the tape measure out trying to visualise how big the rooms will be and how they will look finished.  I think the consensus is all the rooms will be big. Too big??? Never!!!

We also heard this week that the land should be registered middle of March so not long now...fingers crossed

It has taken us a while to get here...

Having been inspired by the many fellow builders on the Home Building Forum’s I have decided to start my own blog of our building journey. Partly to keep a record of this exciting time and partly to help me keep motivated during the many days and weeks were it seems like nothing is happening. A big thank you to all the other people out there blogging about their home building experience as it has been a valuable source of information and inspiration over the last few months.
 
Hubby and I decided to build over 18 months ago and it took that long to find ‘OUR’ perfect block of land and perfect house design.  This is our 2^nd build (we made many mistakes 14 years ago) and we are determined to do it right this time – even if it takes twice as long!!! Unfortunately it is looking like it will cost twice as much too

THE LAND

We paid the deposit on our block at Mulgoa Rise on 2/11/2013 - it is to be registered any week now. 

 

THE HOUSE

We are building a new design by Wisdom Homes called the Newport 41. Well it started at 41 but not sure what it is now lol.  I will be eternally grateful to the Wisdom Homes sales assistant at The Ponds for showing us the new design when we were discussing making changes to another one of their houses. It is perfect - exactly what we wanted (with a few….ok many changes) and we paid the initial deposit in late November 2013.  We accepted the tender before Christmas but since then not much has happened. We are waiting for the initial plans to arrive – they said late last week lol. We are trying to be patient.
